Our value of the month is BELIEF

Welcome to Phoenix!

We are one half of the Reception Unit.  Phoenix’s family group teacher is Miss Salmon, and Mrs Lloyd is our teaching assistant.

Welcome to our family group page!

We have begun our second term in Reception and your children have settled in brilliantly, they are joining in on all of the activities we have in our classroom and are incredibly happy with their environment and with their friends.

We have many areas of our classroom including; a maths area, a creative area, a science table, a small world area, a writing area, a funky fingers station, a home role play and two reading corners!  And that’s not including our amazing outdoor area!

Our topic this half term: Festivals

We are continuing onto our topic of ‘Festivals’ in the last couple of weeks before Christmas.  The children have been talking all about Christmas since the beginning of November!  They are very excited to begin their learning about Christmas, our winter wonderland and all the activities that these topics will bring!

21st November 2016

This week we have learned about some dinosaurs who can help us learn. These dinosaurs names are ‘Stickosaurus’, ‘Thinkosaurus’ and ‘Explorosaurus’.  These dinosaurs each have something they do which helps children to develop our learning.

Stickasaurus, sticks at tasks, and keeps on trying.

Thinkasaurus, thinks about a problem and works out a way to solve it.

Explorasaurus, explores things and enjoys pretending.

Your children have loved thinking about these dinosaurs in their COOL time, they have been talking about them and explaining when they have been acting like the dinosaurs to extend their learning.

Ask your children about their learning dinosaurs to see what they know about them!

Armistice Day

We have celebrated Armistice Day recently, having all areas of our classroom related to this.  The children really engaged with this and thought very hard about the reason why we celebrate it!  Here are some of the activities we did to think about the Men, Women and Animals that fought and fight for us.
