Welcome to Vanguard

The-Lion-The-Witch-And-The-Wardrobe-in-Birmingham

English - Entering a Snowy Wonderland

In English we have been using the text 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S Lewis, as our main stimulus. We have explored the text with the use of visual literacy to help us. We have picked key information and phrases from the text that we can use in our own writing.

We started off looking at the features of newspaper reports, and found that being a journalist isn't as easy as it first looked. You will find a range of articles written by Vanguard in our English books.

We have explored a range of key scenes within the plot, and looked at finding out how the characters are developed through action. We are then using the original plot of the story to plan our own stories. We have looked at the characteristics of villains and heroes, and will use these ideas in our original stories.

inspire-maths(1)

We have been using a new scheme called 'Inpsire Maths' since half term. We are using a more practical approach to our maths, building on concrete experiences, moving into pictoral experiences then progressing finally into more abstract mathematical experiences.

Come and look in our Maths books to see all the super work we have done so far!
